Abortion Training Initiative
New York Midwives (NYM) is proud to offer a structured training pipeline for licensed midwives interested in expanding their scope of practice to include abortion care. This initiative includes a step-by-step training process (outlined below) that blends didactic learning, simulation practice, and supervised clinical placement.

Approved Didactic Trainings
Our approved didactic offerings include the TEACH (Training in Early Abortion for Comprehensive Healthcare) Curriculum and the NYM Abortion Training Webinar Series hosted by Dr. Drew, DNP, MPH, CNM, FNP-C.
TEACH Curriculum:
TEACH (Training in Early Abortion for Comprehensive Healthcare) is a nationally recognized curriculum developed to integrate early abortion and reproductive health into primary care and advanced practice education. The TEACH (Training in Early Abortion for Comprehensive Healthcare) Curriculum equips clinicians with evidence-based, patient-centered training while promoting shared decision-making, autonomy, and equitable access to care.
Core topics include
Medication Abortion · Miscarriage Management · Contraceptive Counseling · Patient-Centered Care
The TEACH Curriculum currently costs $60 which is 100% reimbursable through our program. The course can be accessed at: https://cme-reg.configio.com/pd/4318/teach-abortion-training-full-curriculum

NYM Abortion Training Webinar Series
As part of our Abortion Training Initiative, NYM is hosting a four-part live webinar training series designed to fulfill the didactic training requirement for midwives participating in the program. These educational sessions provide essential clinical knowledge, systems-based strategies, and practice insights to support safe, evidence-based abortion care.
Live attendance is required for all didactic webinars in order to be eligible for clinical placement. Participation will be tracked, and recordings will not be made available for credit toward training completion.
An info session recording is available for midwives who were unable to attend a live overview. This is the only session that may be viewed as a recording and still count toward participation.
📌 Zoom registration is required for each live session. Please register using the links below.
